Born, Rocky Dewayne Jordan to Willie Jordan and Barbara Smith Jordan, on August 16,1967,
in Memphis Tennessee. He was given the name that we all know as “SQUEAKY” by his brother
Edward. He was eight years old (1975) when he dedicated his life to our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. He joined Pleasant Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of
Rev. J.T. Motley. Rocky even at a young age had a melodious voice and promptly joined the
church’s choir and quartet consisting of his brothers Edward, Clinton ( who preceded him in
death), Wes Kerri, Teddy and Tony Motley. He also joined the District Association Choir as
well as the Community Choir. One of Rocky’s favorite songs was “One More Sunny Day”.
Rocky attended E.E. Jeter Elementary School,Woodstock Junior High School, and Millington
Central High School in (1985).
He moved to California and continued his service to Our Lord and Savior by joining Greater
Starlight Missionary Baptist Church.
Rocky did not have children of his own, however, every niece, nephew and cousin that was
around him became his child. He extended his parenting to the children (Timothy, Jessica and
Justin) his childhood/best friend Arthur Houston by becoming their Godfather and sharing
legal guardianship.
Rocky loved cooking and being outside in nature. Although he worked many jobs such as Taco
Bell, Applebee’s, Wiley Meat Company, Inglewood and Montecito Memorial Park just to name
a few. He found places that allowed him to be himself. He gravitated towards jobs that
defined him and his lifestyle: Camp Arbolado in the San Bernardino Mountains, Nature
Classroom in Charlton, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. His love for cooking and being
outside patterned after his mother. There are so many memories of him and his mother
cooking together and driving to communities high in the California Mountains (Mariposa).
Rocky also loved traveling, whether it was bicycle, car, train or plane. He was especially fond
of cruises. Some of the places that Rocky left his footprints included: Grand Turks and Caicos,
Jamaica, Dominican Republic,Bahamas, Puerto Rico, The Mexican Yucatan and the
Caribbean.
Monday Morning, December 26th, 2022, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made a roll call
and Rocky’s name was on it.

Smith, Gail Taylor, Vicki Jordan and Cheryl Thompkins. 4 brothers: Ottis Smith, Willie
