She was first and foremost a loving and caring Mamá to her children Shirley and husband Ray Laciste, Joseph and wife, Doris, Winston and wife, Leonila and Fay and very proud grandma to Pauline, Joanne, Christie, Lauren, Gabrielle, Olivia and great grandma to David Ray.
She was the daughter of Don Macario Albano and Catalina née Sampayan of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines and sister and aunt to politicians, police generals and professionals. She studied to be a Pharmacist at the Manila Central University, Caloocan, Philippines but finished up her Bachelor’s in Education at the Ilocos Norte Normal School.
Prior to migrating to the United States and teaching pre-school at Kinder Care, Redlands, California for 13 years, she taught primarily Biology, Botany and Zoology in High School for 20 years in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. She also coached students to Science Fairs and Quizzes reaching regional level competitions.
Elia had a personal style, was passionate of continued learning and formal education, charitable, blessed with a green thumb, a soap opera fanatic, and a devotee of the Mother of Perpetual Help.
Limited viewing is held on June 4, 2021 from 9 -11 am at the Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E Washington Street, Colton, California 92324 and followed by the final blessing at 11:30 am at the interment by Fr. Gino of Holy Name of Jesus.
