

Eunice LeMelle Teorey passed away quietly on June 14, 2012, at age 95, surrounded by family members and loving friends. She spent the last 18 months at Emeritus Senior Living Community in Grand Terrace, where she was beloved for her outgoing conversation and her ability to jump into beautiful song to the delight of her dining companions and community staff. She provided much light and joy to other people’s lives up to her very last days. Eunice was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many.
Rose Eunice Tucker was born in Los Angeles on July 3, 1916, to Ethelyn Guiula Koontz and Edgar Guy Tucker. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1934, and then attended Los Angeles City College. She was married to Thomas F. Teorey, former poet laureate of Grand Terrace, for 54 years, from 1940 until his death in 1995. As an Air Force wife, she traveled with her children to many places including South Carolina, Texas, California, Arizona, North Dakota, and military bases in Ramstein, Frankfurt, and Munich, Germany. They settled in Grand Terrace in 1965. After World War II she worked at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), and later at March Air Force Base as a Red Cross Volunteer. Her many hobbies included collecting antiques and stamps, gardening, knitting beautiful clothes, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Maryon (Bud) Schindler; children Toby (Julie) Teorey, Bonnie (Eddie) von Pingel, and Merilee (Don) McHenry; grandsons Eric (Teddi) von Pingel, Erin (Kelly) von Pingel, and Matt (Tara Demers) Teorey; granddaughters Kelly (Dana) Stokes, Kristi (Todd) Erskine, Carol Teorey, and Marilyn Teorey; and eight great-grandchildren.
