Rosita “Rose” Perez Tayaben, was born on April 21, 1936 in San Juan, Batangas, Philippines. She was fourth to the eldest child of eight siblings, five daughters and three sons, to the late Matildo Trevino Perez and the late Eufrosina Rabano Semira Perez. At age 12, Rose was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
When her interests turned into fashion, she studied dressmaking. She joined siblings Anita, Reuel, Rebecca to Manila. While her siblings went to Philippine Union College, Rose started up business operations in her room at a boarding house and built her clientele consisted mostly of students, college faculty, and employees of Philippine Publishing House. She put her younger siblings through school.
A young chap in military crew cut moved in next door adjacent to her room. Roger Tayaben, an Ilocano, pursued his studies at PUC and worked at PPH. He wooed her heart into matrimony on June 18, 1969 at Manila Center SDA Church. The offspring of their love was a son, Reginald nicknamed “Randy” and a daughter, Katherine Daphne she called “Darling”.
In 1991, the Tayaben family immigrated to America. California became their home. Before retirement, Rose worked at Baker’s and Adventist Health System. She loved her roses and doves, especially her pet bird Sweetie the pigeon. She enjoyed traveling the congruent United States to 32 states, including Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Madrid and the Bahamas. Her passion in life for her family was for her children to play the piano in church and finish their education and to love the Lord as faithful Seventh-day Adventists.
