

Ruth Isaac was born on May 15, 1928 to the late Marthamma and Sidmalla Joseph in Kollegal (Karnataka State), India. She was the third daughter in a family of seven children. Her elementary education was in Channapatna, after which she joined and completed high school at Lowry Memorial Higher Secondary School, Bangalore. She was the class valedictorian for the nursing school class of 1950 at Giffard Memorial Hospital. This was followed by a certificate in midwifery at Rainy Memorial Hospital, Madras (Chennai).
She married the love of her life, P. T. Isaac, on November 26, 1952. They both served in or ran Adventist Hospitals and Dispensaries in Nuzvid, Olasha, Pune, Shimla, Nilgiris, Nuzvid (second tour), Pondicherry, Shimla (second tour) and Jalandhar over the next 25 years. Her children Moni, Molly and Mohan were born in Nuzvid, Pune and Nilgiris respectively. She emigrated from India to the United States in November 1977. She worked as a registered nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center and later retired from Redlands Community Hospital. She provided compassionate care to her patients and often prayed with them. Ruth loved cooking, baking, gardening (especially tending to roses), making paper roses, singing, memorizing verses and chapters from the bible and travelling.
On December 28, 2014, Ruth underwent surgery for a fractured left femur that resulted from a fall on her drive way the day before. The surgery was and initial phase of rehabilitation was successful; however, her recovery was complicated by pneumonia and C. difficile colitis. After two long months she passed away on February 27, 2015 while receiving comfort care after life sustaining measures were withdrawn. She was preceded in death by her older sisters Rose and Mary and younger brother Joseph Daniel. She leaves behind P. T. Isaac, her husband of 62 years; children Moni Thomas Isaac, Premila (Molly) Mesipam and George Mohan Isaac and their families; brothers Rathna and Paulraj, sister Shavanthy and many nieces, nephews and their families in Maryland and India.
Ruth will have a visitation on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Montecito Valley View Chapel in Colton, California from 5:00-8:00 PM and a Funeral Service on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Campus Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California with Interment to follow at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton, California.
