Sharyl Haase, age 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Shari’s life was defined by her creative spirit. She shared her talents through countless handmade gifts and treasured keepsakes that serve as lasting reminders of her care and thoughtfulness. Beyond her craft, Shari built a beautiful, loving family. She was a fierce protector of those she loved, dedicating herself to their happiness with kindness, resilience, unwavering support, and forgiveness.
Shari selflessly sought to provide comfort to others. While working in the Dean's office at Loma Linda, she spent many hours baking treats for students studying in the library. Her care extended to nature as well; once a week, she visited the "rescue rack" at Lowe’s to find plants she could nourish back to health for her garden.
Shari was quietly remarkable and made friends wherever she went. While she did not seek the spotlight, she carried a spark known well by those closest to her—a subtle wit and a gift for surprising others with the perfect comment at the right time. Her strength was steady and her presence deeply comforting. She gave of herself generously, always offering a listening ear and making it clear that her family was the center of her world. Every piece she created was an expression of patience and love.
She is survived by her husband, Christian; her son, Dr. Tyler Haase and wife Dr. Stephanie Chang; step-sons Dr. Christian Haase and wife Dr. Julia Dobner-Pereira, and Trevor Haase and wife Erin Haase; grandchildren Phoebe and Wil; her parents, Dingo and Waleta Chong; and her brother, Dr. Jeffery Chong. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity and devotion that will live on through all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary on June 26, followed by a reception from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Sharyl's life and honor the beautiful balance of quiet strength and spirited charm she carried.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
