She was a missionary along with her husband, Gordon Ellstrom in West Africa (Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Cameroon), Central Africa (Congo), and Caribbean (Haiti) for over 50 years. She loved flowers, chocolate, was a skilled artist painting in water color and oils, and collector of shells and rocks of many kinds. She loved people and people loved her.
Loving mother of Mervin Lee Ellstrom, his wife Karen, and Kathleen Eloise Ellstrom. Adoring Grandma to Christopher Lee Ellstrom, and his wife Laura, and Courtney Lynn Ellstrom. She was a great-aunt to Nathan, Heather, and Rachel Johnson, and Jack and Erica Kearn, and all the Ellstrom cousins, and honorary grandma to Samantha and Sarah Vranes. There were numerous others that she encouraged and helped throughout the years.
Velma Ellstrom was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gordon, and her parents Alta Larrabee and Edward Kearn. She was the last of her generation in our family.
