On August 28, 2023, Virlin “Pete” Peterson, 67, of Rialto CA, passed away at home with his wife Pam lovingly at his side holding him in her arms. He fought cancer with the strength of a warrior. His unyielding spirit, endless courage, unfathomable resolve, his grit and immense determination were nothing short of awe inspiring throughout his battle. He carried himself with dignity, strength and full of love for his family.
Virlin was born in 1956 in San Bernardino, CA to Jack Virl and Kaye Peterson. He lived his rambunctious young life with his two siblings Rebecca (Heather) and Cinde along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends nearby. He moved to Rialto at age 11 and then attended Eisenhower High School before joining the Marine Corps when he was 17.
Virlin and Pam were high school sweethearts that went their separate ways for a time but found each other again and eventually married. Daughter Tiffany (husband Ralph) and son Skyler (wife Kimberly) made their family complete. Later they were blessed to welcome granddaughters Allison and Chloe to the family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, protector, role model and hero.
Virlin spent 40 years in the Sales Technology industry where he held positions from Senior Account Executive, General Manager and Sales Director. He was a legend in his industry and was highly respected. His last 15 years were spent at VectorUSA which he absolutely loved, mainly because the owners there are all about integrity and relationships. He was known to be a straight shooter, a man of his word, one of a kind and a man who set the example for others. He was known for his contagious friendliness and his mantra that he was “living the dream”.
His passions were golfing, fishing, racing and shooting his many weapons. He was an expert marksman. He loved his Rams and Sunday was his favorite day because that meant football and food! He loved to cook and he was fantastic at it. Family get togethers, parties, BBQs and backyard pool parties were so important to him but everything had to be flawless. He was a perfectionist and wanted his guests to have a great time and the best experience possible. He went above and beyond in everything he did and always left a lasting impression. He was fun loving and the life of any gathering or party he attended. He was strong willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and brave. He was clever, quick-witted, funny and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experience. He made an impact on many, many lives and he will be forever missed. Until we meet again my love.
A celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Valley View Chapel at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton with reception immediately following.
The family would like to thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at Kaiser Hospice for the time spent with Virlin and the amazing care they gave during this heartbreaking time. We are forever grateful.
