With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bruce Walker Sisk, who died on April 16, 2026, at the age of 74. Bruce was born on October 22, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to the late John Walker and Lorraine (Maybell) Sisk, and was raised in Vienna, Virginia.
A 1970 graduate of James Madison High School, Bruce earned his Bachelor of Nursing degree from Columbia Union College, beginning what would become a remarkable lifelong career in healthcare.
Bruce lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved and heartbroken wife, Mary Wright-Sisk. Bruce was a proud and loving father to three children: Erin Sisk of Columbia, Maryland; Brian Sisk of San Diego, California; and Ashley Wright of Scaggsville, Maryland. He recently found immense joy in welcoming his grandson, Mason, whose arrival brought him great happiness. Bruce also shared a close bond with his sister, Kim Dennis; his daughters-in-law, Jodie and Jennifer; and his best friend of more than 40 years, John Pollack.
Bruce was proud of marking 50 dedicated years as a Registered Nurse and Operating Room Educator, where he was known for his work ethic, kindness, and commitment to patients and their family members. He touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His sense of humor, intelligence, and quick wit will be remembered forever. He was an avid cook, loved to read (although TikTok was a late in life obsession), knew every Beatles song, and especially loved all things beach.
We have lost a remarkable man—a devoted husband and father, a doting grandfather, a brother, a dear friend, an uncle, and a truly kind soul. While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the love, joy, and kindness that were at the core of his being.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bruce will be held on Sunday, June 7 from 3p-5m at the Witzke Funeral Home-5555 Twin Knolls Rd, Columbia MD 21045.
Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite Bruce story to share.
