
She is survived by her six children; Mercedes, Marta, Magdalena, Marisol, Jose, and Ramon; she is also survived by six siblings who live in Cayey Puerto Rico and a step son who lives in NY'c, and she was one of 10 children born to Sophia Guzman.
She came to the states at age 14 and used her sister's work papers to land a job. Her father had just died and she came to work to send money back to her mother who still had 6 younger children at home. She was a seamstress in a clothing factory for much of her adult life in between raising her children. She became a union organizer and was fired from one of her first jobs. She wore slacks to work on another job, before women were allowed to wear slacks and again was fired. She taught herself to read and write English, she loved to talk politics, and she was a card carrying democrat.
A mass of christian burial for Carmen will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, MD 21044. Following the mass of christian burial will be a commital service at 11:30 AM at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
