I am saddened to hear about Cathy's passing. My condolences to her family. I was close friends with her throughout high school and college and kept in contact for years afterward.  I enjoyed visiting  her and seeing what she did with her  "dollar house"! I am sorry we could not reach her for our 50th Mercy reunion! I have so many fond memories!

I will always remember Cathy for her chess skills in the Chess League at Mercy High.  She was my best player. Had lost touch with Cathy but she and her family are in my prayers.

To the Six Family, My deepest condolences on the loss of Cathy. It’s not usual for the family of a public servant to really know or understand the world in which their loved one is a part of. Cathy was one of the best. She was dedicated, compassionate, funny, and really damn smart. She mentored and taught so many of us.  I am eternally  grateful to her for her friendship and belief in me. She gave her entire life to serving her country, the Social Security Administration and the vast number of people it serves. She inspired so many of us to be better, do better, and to not take life and the work too seriously.  Thank you, Cathy. I know you went straight to the great place. I will miss you.

I am so sorry to hear of Cathy's passing.  To her family and friends, please know that you are in my prayers, and I hope your memories of Cathy comfort you at this time.

I worked with Cathy for about 10 years.  She generously shared her knowledge and people all over the agency sought her advice before making decisions.  After she retired, she made sure to check on me  and I enjoyed our talks.  She will be missed.  

To the Six Family, I want to extend my sincere condolences in the loss of your loved one. Cathy was a very special person, and she freely shared your knowledge of labor relations with all. I recall participating in a training session with her when she visited New York City. She always took time and was always available no matter how demanding her schedule was. She was a gem! To the Six family, my sincere condolences for your lost.  Cathy was not just a retiree of the Social Security Administration, she was an institution of knowledge and resources that she openly shared with the employee and labor relations communities throughout SSA’s headquarters, regional, field offices.  There was never a question or situation she would shy away from and worse case scenario you would receive, “it all depends” as the response to your question.  I am eternally grateful for her leadership and compassion when I experienced a family crisis.  My fondest memory of Cathy would have to be her establishment of the Wednesday Chinese lunches.  I realize that the joining together of colleagues for those lunches became a fellowship that continued after she retired. I will never look at fortune cookies the same.  May you find comfort and peace knowing how special she was and will always be to all of us who had the privilege to witness her greatness.  Peace and Blessings.

Cathy was the expert of experts.  She was always so generous with her considerable knowledge and with her time. I’ll never forget the 1st time I met her. She had come to Jamaica, NY to give training and she was dressed in an inappropriately casual outfit. The 1st thing she did was apologize for the fact that she had spilled coffee all over her good clothes and was now stuck wearing this. I can still see it!

We would often talk about the irony of how different our personal politics were from our professional personas.

Condolences to her family and close friends. We’ve  all lost a great one too soon.



Cathy was a trusted colleague and valued friend for over 35 years.  Employee relations conundrums and the Baltimore Orioles were the subjects of countless conversations with Cathy, along with some Harry Potter thrown in for good measure.  I was fortunate to have known her.  My deepest condolences to her family.

Cathy Six was a mentor to me early in my federal career.  She was a smart and kind person.  I have fond memories of her.  I’m sad to hear of her passing.  My condolences to her loved ones.

Cathy made sure we all stayed in touch even during the pandemic. Joan and I will miss having lunch with her so much. 

I'm so sad to hear of Cathy's passing. She meant so much to so many at SSA. She hired me so I owe my career to her.  She was my supervisor at one time and then a lifelong friend.  Everyone went to Cathy when they had a complicated case or question. She was a wealth of knowledge & integral part of OLMER. You could always count her her.  
She  experienced many personal ups and downs of her coworkers throughout the years with kindness and caring. Every Wednesday, we had Chinese Food day. We talked about Tv shows, politics, current events, weather, etc and it was a nice break from the work day.  I always loved hear what Cathy had to say. 
We stayed in touch through email and lunch get togethers after retirement. Our lunches will not be the same without her and she will be greatly missed. by her SSA Family.  
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her Family, her SSA Family and friends.  We will miss her so much. 

Cathy was a smart, ethical and dedicated public servant.  She fought tenaciously for what she believed in but shared her wit, wisdom and humor freely.  She cared deeply about her world, her country and the people in them.   Her energy and smile will be missed but her impact on those who's lives she touched will go on.
