

On August 18, 2015, Charlotte “Lorraine” Gale died of heart failure; Lorraine was born in Staten Island, New York on October 6, 1929 to James Edward Farley and Charlotte Lucille Farley (Emory). She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Gale, daughter Charlotte Joy Fiori, and Terry Darleen McArthur. During WWII Lorraine was an early volunteer of the Women’s Auxiliary Group performing fund raising, letter writing and other support activities for returning soldiers and the war effort. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Baltimore, MD in the early 1950’s where she raised four children and often opened her home to others in need. She is survived by two sons Joseph Edward Hayes and William Charles Hayes. She is also survived by son-in-law Michael Fioro, daughter-in-law Carol Ann Hayes, six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was the oldest of four siblings, Margaret ZurHeide, Marilyn Yeagley and James Edward Farley Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Rd., Columbia, MD 21045 on Sunday, August 23, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 24, 10am, St. Louis Catholic Church Chapel, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
