He leaves his wife of 50 years, Gloria (Pumphrey) Konick; his daughter, Stacy, and her husband Peter Gallagher, along with their children, Kaleigh (19) and Madison (17); also his son, Wesley, his wife Lauren, and their children, Ella (6) and Anya (1); and many devoted family and friends.
After graduating from Glen Burnie High School in 1964, he attended the University of Maryland College Park. Shortly after his graduation in 1968, he enlisted in the US Navy where he was named honorman of his company. During his service years, he and Gloria were married and within a few years had their first child, daughter Stacy. Their family grew again with the birth of their son, Wesley.
Following his naval service, Dan entered the insurance business. Through continuing education, he became successful in the field of financial planning and investing. Throughout his career, including his position as Senior Vice President of First Financial Group, he received many accolades for his leadership skills.
Over the years, Dan received recognition for his many hours of charity work. He volunteered at various organizations such as Johns Hopkins Pediatrics, University Hospital, and other charitable groups. He also served on several boards; UMCP Alumni Association, Babe Ruth/Sports Legends Museum, and Fifth District Fire Department.
Dan was an avid sports fan! He supported his beloved Maryland Terps, Baltimore Orioles, and Ravens. Many lucky friends were the recipients of season tickets when family could not attend games. His name will forever remain on the walls of Comcast Center College Park and M&T Stadium, home of the Ravens.
An athlete himself, Dan played and managed the Baltimore Baseball Club for many years. He traveled with his teammates to national tournaments – winning the championship in 2003. These teammates became some of his most cherished friends.
Dan was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, exceptional and present dad, a wonderful son, and caring brother. He loved traveling all over the world with his family, coaching and cheering on his kids in all they did and was a very proud father and grandfather.
