George was the first Yungmann I met. I was a shy and scared freshman wandering about in a sea of black and gold before a parade. I looked up at him, crying and I suspect looking like a lost waif, and he hugged me. Dave wandered over and George said “who am I hugging” and Dave told  him my name .  So much funny about this story but for me, my memory  George’s  instinct to immediately reach out and help a scared kid is just beautiful.

What a special place George holds in all of our hearts. He was a dear friend, a mentor,  a beautiful human and an inspiration. No one has ever had a better laugh. 
We will always treasure the memory of our fun times together.

Your Dad was a great friend.  For years after I left The Rouse Company we kept in touch. Sometimes it was  a coffee, sometimes lunch and occasionally a sail. Frequently, we just linked up by cell, checking in on each other. I already miss him. In my mind’s eye, I see him sailing on the Bay, at the helm, smiling and looking off into the horizon.

George's kindness was comforting, and I will never forget his welcoming nature. I will miss talking to him. He was a great example of an open and kind person. He will truly be missed in the Nareit offices. I hope you are out for a sail, George, where the sun is always shining and the water is clear and blue.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of George's passing. George was much more than a colleague. We are losing a real mentor, a friend to all of us. Always eager to give support on many fronts with a high degree of sincere commitment combined with a great sense of humor. He will be highly missed. I was very sorry to hear the news about George. I have many happy memories of working with him on various NAREIT projects.
