
Born in Wattsburg, Pennsylvania, on March 29, 1939, Jack earned his degree in Engineering from Gannon College. He dedicated his professional life to service and innovation, spending his entire career with the National Security Agency and SAIC.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne Young Zimmer. He is survived by his children: Edward (Terri), Steven, Michael, Katherine (Kim), Laura (Alex), and Emily; his sister, Rose Briggs; and his brother, Jerry Zimmer. He was a proud grandfather to Courtney, Jack (Laura), Brian Ezekiel (Autumn), Joel, Azalea, Beatrice, Eleanor, Evelyn, Madyn, and Caden, and a loving great-grandfather to Hudson, Carter, and Noah.
In his retirement, Jack found great joy in bird watching and woodworking, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for nature and craftsmanship. Jack and Jeanne also spent their golden years traveling in their RV, including a long trip to Alaska, which provided many cherished memories. They also volunteered as campground hosts in Shenandoah National Park for several years.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp mind, and deep love for his family.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
