She was born in Spencer, MA on July 1, 1923, to the late Alfred and Sylvia L’Heureux. Jeannette is predeceased by her husband Randolph Bretton. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Hannans and her husband Albert of Columbia, MD, and Susan Bretton of Columbia, MD; son, Randolph H. Bretton Jr. and his wife Jenny of Belleville, IL; two grandchildren, Kenya Gibson and Nicole Lewis and her husband Donte, and seven great grandchildren, Nerissa, Scarlett, Phoenix, Naya, Donte, Drew and Devin. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Collette and Irene Carroll of Spencer, MA. She remained close to her extended family in Spencer.
Jeannette lived in Hamden with her husband, Randolph, for over 60 years, where they were active members of Saint Stephen’s Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was knitting baby hats which she donated to local hospitals and charities. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Jeannette will be remembered most of all for her deep love for her family and friends, kind and generous spirit, willingness to help others and great sense of humor. Our mother‘s love and legacy will forever live in our hearts.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ellicott City, MD at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6th. Burial will take place on October 20th, in the Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer, MA.
