On July 28, 2018, Joseph Andrews was called to glory. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion. Joe leaves behind three daughters, Karen Bernard, Michelle Prout and Tracey Jamison; grandchildren Adrian, Brittany, Kalenn, Bryce, Justin, Reese and great grandchildren Jayden, Avery, Makenzie, and Elijah; sisters Verlonda Thompson and Colleen Matthews; brother James and sister Jean predecease him. Joe also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends.
Joseph Tyrone Andrews was born September 26, 1937, the first born son, to the late Joseph and Inez Andrews in Washington, DC. Joe, or Took, as some affectionately called him, attended D.C. public schools, TESST School of Technology in Baltimore, Maryland and Howard Community College.
In 1956, Joe enlisted in the Army, gaining many technical skills that would later serve him well throughout his career. Joe’s long career includes becoming an electrician and ultimately a Master Electrician. An accomplishment he was very proud of. Such strong skills took him to many interesting job sites including working on the original electrical grid for Washington’s Metro system and overseeing the electrical installation for Reagan National Airport addition of Terminals B and C in 1997.
Anyone who knew Joe, knew the things that were most important to him was family, especially his daughters and grandchildren, and football, notably his affection for the Washington Redskins.
