

Originally from Pennsylvania, she was born in Scranton and raised in Bethlehem and Doylestown. Near her farm in Doylestown, she attended a one room schoolhouse with her brothers and then graduated from Doylestown High School. Marilyn went on to earn degrees from the University of Delaware and Drexel University and spent her summers as a waitress on Martha’s Vineyard and Lake George in New York. In 1946 she moved to Minnesota where she began her career as librarian with the Minneapolis Public Library, met and married her husband Charles, raised her children, and was a long time member of the Richfield United Methodist Church. Marilyn enjoyed reading, art history, genealogy, classical music, and travel.
She is survived by her son Charles C. Stewart of Eden Prairie, MN and her daughter Catherine S. Romero (Manuel) of Columbia, MD; granddaughters Catherine Romero, Carolina Romero, Alena Stewart, and Melissa (Stewart) Engel (Chris); and great grandchildren Dublin Stewart and Emery Engel.
She was also the stepmother of the late Kirby Stewart (Karen) of St. Paul, MN and the late Gary Stewart (Beverly) of Phoenix, AZ; and step grandmother of Suzy (Stewart) Koch, Nancy (Stewart) Hannen, Brian Stewart, Sarah (Stewart) Norton, Troy Stewart and Trent Stewart; and several step great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in Minnesota.
