Mitzee Posey Teague grew up in Bailey’s Crossroads, VA and attended Falls Church High School where she met her future husband, Jim. After living in northern VA for 16 years, they moved “all the way around the beltway” to Laurel, MD where they raised their four children and met many life-long friends. Mitzee worked in the Howard County Public School system since 1972 and retired in 1995.
Mitzee and Jim loved to host many holiday parties for family and friends at their home in Hammond Village. In retirement, she enjoyed babysitting her beloved grandchildren and was a faithful attendee at all their sports, dance and drama performances. In 2003, Mitzee and Jim moved to Glenwood, MD where they were surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. She was a devoted member of St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Laurel, MD from 1968 to 2018 and St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Glenwood, MD until 2022 when she moved to assisted living. She was an accomplished cook and baker, known for her pound cakes, pies and chocolate chip cookies which she gave to many. She even shipped them around the country, as far as Alaska.
Mitzee was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Lee Teague; her parents Naomi and Elton Posey, sister Tyree Pelan, daughter-in-law Rebekah Teague, grandson Samuel Schultz and other much-loved siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews.
