Quincella Aleathia Barr, age 82 of Columbia Maryland, passed away on Monday November 12, 2018. She was born to the late Quincy Delmore Meeks and Leslie Franklin Meeks on July 31, 1936 in Daytona Beach Florida. Quincella was a loving and compassionate person who was always there to listen to concerns of others, and offer a helping hand. She understood that a precious gift you can give someone is your time. Quin graduated from Dunbar High School in 1954, and Howard University in 1959. At Howard University she met Alphonso Barr. They married on September 28, 1958, and had a life-long partnership for over 60 years. Quincella and Alphonso left the comfort zone of friends and family to live in various places that included New England, Walnut Creek California, Fort Worth Texas, and Columbia Maryland. All they had for years was each other. In spite of many years with numerous medical challenges, Quincella was able to have moments of happiness with sewing clothes, quilt patching, knitting, crochet, ceramics, writing poetry, music, reading, pleasure traveling with Alphonso, being with her children, family members, and friends. Quincella is survived by husband Alphonso Barr, daughters Denee Aleathia Barr, Laurie Marion Barr, Deborah Winifred Barr-Hairston, and son-in-law Jessie Hairston. She also leaves behind two sisters, Leslie Emily Branson, Josie Winifred Meeks, and brother-in-law Clifford Michael Branson; six grandchildren, Mariama Sokoni Adangwa, (husband Prosper Joni Adangwa), Hadar Salim Barr-Dallas, Tanajah Nicole Hairston, Tamia Marie Hairston, Brooklyn Tari Hairston, and Mister Hairston. In addition, one great grandchild Zion Luca Batizatu; three sister-in-laws, Annie Barr, Ida Barr, Jeannie Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be Private.
