

Maryland on November 12, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born in upstate New York on
January 24, 1938. He was a graduate of the College of St. Rose in Albany NY. He
also attended Johns Hopkins School of Business as a graduate student.
Richard had a 40 year professional career in the credit finance business. Most of that
time was spent with Ford Motor Credit Company where he last served as Vice
President in charge of marketing. He retired from the company in 2003. Following
retirement he dedicated his time to family and to his passion for art. He also had a love
for tennis and fly-fishing. He also spent time in retirement volunteering with an
organization dedicated to helping startup businesses and he served on his
neighborhood community association.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Judith, and cherished family
including daughters Linda Pauley, Carla Carlson, and Alicia Sullivan, and son Keith, as
well as 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents Irene and James Norbert Pauley and two brothers, Tom and Bert Pauley.
Richard will be remembered for his kind and humble nature and his love for time spent
with family and friends. He had an ever present love for life that was uplifting to all who
knew him. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in his early 60’s which he never
allowed to slow him down. He remained an avid tennis player and prolific artist into his
mid-70’s. His profound love of family will never be forgotten.
Memorial services will be private. The family has requested that remembrances be
made in the form of contributions to The Parkinson’s Foundation (at
