I had the privilege of hearing one of his great stories at a neighborhood gathering a few years ago.  During the pandemic lock down,  there was always a cheerful word as he walked their adorable dog and I walked the lake.  We joked about keeping our distance.  To Carrie and his family, please, accept my sincerest condolences.

Uncle Bob is my favorite uncle.  To this day, I love corvettes and horse racing because he and aunt carry took me with them whenI was young.  As a child, uncle Bob nicknamed me “buttandguts” and it was a term of endearment that makes me smile when I think of him!

To Carrie and Family: Our heartfelt sympathy and condolences. We will miss our neighbor, Bob -always friendly and ready for a nice chat, especially when he was out walking his beloved dog. He had a wonderful voice and laugh. He loved to enthusiastically share his experience and knowledge about racehorses and racetracks - which we enjoyed. It was a fascinating and interesting education. We hope that you are comforted by knowing that you are surrounded by the love and affection of your neighbors and friends during this difficult time of mourning. To the family of my lifelong friend & classmate “Bobby”,  may God bless you with peace, comfort & strength as you traverse this life path of grief.  He was a beloved friend & I’m reflecting on many fond memories of years past of time spent in Carver & at Ms. Leatha’s home on Water Street.  Which also brings back memories of Gladys, Duke & Ruthie who used to come in the summer. 🥰
He was also in the high school choir with us. My mom was excited to see him years ago when he was in town for a family funeral.  Because of  fond memories  he will live on in your hearts.

Bob gave us such a warm welcome to the neighborhood about 5 seconds after we pulled the U-Haul into the driveway several years ago. We were always happy to hear a story about the horse racing days, commiserate about the pesky cicadas, or laugh about whatever the day’s news was. We’ll miss Bob and remember him fondly as our friend next door.

Dear Carrie and family, Theresa and I send our sincere condolences and we are Praying that God gives you  and your family the strength to get you through this difficult time.Bobby and I grew-up in Salem,Va. As a family, we will miss a beautiful man, who was the morale builder for the neighborhood and a great story teller.  Bob knew everyone nad showed interest in all of our lives.  We hope that his wonderful, large family will be comforted by their rememberanes.

Dave and I have had the privilege of living next door to Bob and Carrie since 1986. On his way to the car if we were outside he would yell “Hey Neighbor getting ready to take my bride to the racetrack “  He always liked talking about the Ravens the day after a game. It was just a pleasure knowing Bob over the years. Carrie and Bob have been great neighbors. We will always remember the Bob before his health issues took his memory and body. To Carrie, Dawn, Terri and Ursula  and the rest of the family our heartfelt condolences go out to you during this time.
