Veronica Santos Flynn passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Integrace Fairhaven in Sykesville, Maryland. Born on June 11, 1939, in Stonington, Connecticut to Manuel Santos and Evangeline Santos (nee Sylvia), Veronica (Roni) enjoyed swimming in the ocean and dancing. After graduation from Stonington High School, Roni met and married Myles John Flynn. They started their family in New York City, then moved to Maryland in 1971 and eventually settled in Columbia in 1973. Roni was dedicated to her children and grandchildren and worked tirelessly to support them in their many activities. She was an original soccer mom and spent many hours volunteering and cheering for her children and grandchildren at soccer fields, lacrosse fields, and by the swimming pool. In retirement, Roni was an avid bridge player and achieved the rank of Life Master. She loved the beach and was happiest when she was at the ocean surrounded by her loving family. Roni was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her two sisters, Claudia Chiaradio and Maria Schilke. She leaves a wonderful legacy through her children, Margaret Walker (Donald), Kevin Flynn (Michelle), Jennifer Flynn, Myles Flynn (Tara), and James Flynn (Gretchen) and her grandchildren, Peyton Walker, Logan Walker, Natalie Flynn, John Flynn, Matthew Flynn, and Daniel Flynn.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, from 3-5 pm and 7-9pm at Witzke Funeral Home, 5555 Twin Knolls Rd., Columbia, MD 21045. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 13, at 10am at St. Louis Church in Clarksville, MD. A private interment will follow at St. Louis Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the “Soccer Association of Columbia (SAC)- Soccer Scholarship Fund”, 4560 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042, 410-203-9590.

Just watched the movie showing the many pictures capturing your Mom's life. Actually saw a picture of her with my Mom (Margie). Looks like you have wonderful memories to hold in your hearts. Cherish them. I'm sorry for your loss.
