Victor McNeel

Victor Ernest McNeel, 88, passed away August 19, 2026. He was born March 26, 1938, in Glen Hope, Pennsylvania to Howard Cyrus McNeel, Sr. and Lois Stephens McNeel. He served in the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958, including time in Japan and the Philippines. He graduated with a degree in forestry from Penn State, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, in 1963. After working as a forester for a few years, he moved to Maryland and worked as a cartographer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from 1967 to 1997. He enjoyed tending to his yard and beloved trees in Derwood, Maryland, and riding motorcycles. Victor is survived by his son, Timothy McNeel (Jennifer), of Columbia, Maryland, and grandsons Justin and Samuel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ruth Landes McNeel, and his three brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 4pm, October 10, 2026, at New Hope Lutheran Church, 8575 Guilford Rd., Columbia, MD 21046.
