Willie Mae Watson, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 8, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia to Inez and William H. Harris. She attended Norfolk State University and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in the early 1970’s. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in the late 1980’s. She began her nearly 40 year career as a Cytotechnologist at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC; and spent much of her career at Quest Diagnostics in Owings Mills, MD before permanently retiring from the workforce.
She devoted herself to raising her two children and loved her grandchildren very much. She was also a compassionate and caring person who opened her home, not only to other family members, but non family members as well. Willie Mae enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially eating crabs. In her early years, she was an avid tennis player. Later in life, her passions included gardening, going to estate sales, and doing puzzles.
Preceding her in death were four siblings: Theresa Hudgins, Lillian Forrest, Reginald Hudgins, Ruby Parker and one son: Randolph Watson.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her daughter, Cassandra Watson of Columbia, Maryland; grandchildren: Brandi Watson, Sydney Watson, Keith Martin (Dana Martin) all of Columbia, Maryland; her sister, Sylvia Francis of Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Randolph Eugene Watson, son of the late Willie Mae Watson and Samuel Watson, was born January 6, 1966 in Jacksonville, Florida. He departed this life on May 21, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Randy was educated in the Howard County public school system and attended Oakland Mills High School, but left school early. He would later go on to earn his GED, an accomplishment that made his family very proud. After hard work and dedication, Randy was able to complete trucking school and accomplish a life-long dream of starting a trucking career.
Randy leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, his daughter, Brandi Watson of Columbia, Maryland; father, Samuel Watson of Fleming Island, Florida; sister, Cassandra Watson of Columbia, Maryland; half-sisters: Toshiba Watson, Samantha Watson-Corbitt of Florida; niece, Sydney Watson of Columbia, Maryland; bonus-son, Keith Martin (Dana Martin) of Columbia, Maryland; long- time companion, Denise Grayson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
