Adele was born on February 15, 1919 in Sullivan, MO the daughter of Albert and Mary Edith (Strauser) Moss who preceded her in death. She was married on March 20, 1946 in Eureka, MO to Len Landers who preceded her in death in 1995. Her long life and good health were a blessing to her family and all who knew her. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren, who had the good fortune of sharing life with her, first as children, then as adults. In family photos, she is holding her grandchildren as babies, caring for them as children and arm in arm with them as adults.
Adele’s life revolved around her family. She enjoyed being with her relatives throughout her life, especially enjoying the Landers’ family reunions at Branson every August. She was a generous and kind woman who loved all aspects of being a farm wife, whether cooking, keeping house, gardening, canning, raising her children or sharing decisions about the management of their farm with her husband Len. Adele could not sit idle. She mowed her lawn well into her 90s, weeded and cut grass with a sickle until a few years ago, and up until her last few months did needlework. For Christmas one year, she made each of her grandchildren beautiful quilts.
Church was important to Adele. Wherever she lived, she was active at the local Baptist church and would not miss services on Sunday. She had a positive attitude and looked at each day as a gift. There was not a day that she didn’t consider pretty, and not a day that she didn’t enjoy being outdoors appreciating the beauty of the world.
Survivors include: her daughter, Kay Wax (Jack) of Columbia, MO; ten grandchildren, JaNelle Landers, Amy Landers, Mark Wax, Penny Buckholtz (Garrett), Jordan Wax, Amber Adele Landers, Angela Landers, Leslie Landers, Nate Wax and Pam Blake; two great granddaughters, Adelynn Buckholtz and Ellie Blake; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Monty Landers and Dennis Landers; three sisters and one brother.
