Alva N. Caruthers, Jr. age 85, of Columbia, Mo, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home. Norris was born on May 4, 1930 in Boone County, MO, the son of Viola (Dodson) and Alva N. Caruthers, Sr. He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Parkade Baptist Church. Norris was an avid reader and passionate about conservation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie “Sue” of 57 years; two sons, Jeff and Todd (Janet); daughter, Stacey (Micah) Baker; five grandchildren, Cameron and Danielle Caruthers, Logan, Olivia and Jackson Norris Baker; one great granddaughter, Kiley Wadlow; one brother, Earl ( Mariea) Caruthers and one sister, Marcella (Bob) Roberts; brother in law, Jim Reynolds and sister in law, Eula Caruthers. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sondra Reynolds, one brother, W.A. Caruthers and one infant brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Parkade Baptist Church, 2102 Garth.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm at the church. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the MO Department of Conservation or to Parkade Baptist Church.
