Beverly J Massey

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10 AM-11 AM at Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11 AM in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Beverly was born on March 24, 1934 near Milan, Missouri the daughter of James Dewey Nickell and Hazel Mary Coon Nickell. She grew up on the farm and attended the local schools. She moved to Columbia in the late 1950s and raised her family here. She worked in a local hotel and for Knight’s Drug Store. She found joy later working as a nanny for several families in Columbia. In her later years she enjoyed the routine of walking at the Mall and visiting her friends she met there. She took pride in keeping a lovely home. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Beverly is survived by her two sons: Dennis DeRyke and his wife Marie-Laure Pearman of Mountain View, CA; David DeRyke and his wife Juanita of San Antonio, TX; one granddaughter: Bevenida DeRyke; two great grandsons: Omar and MarLee Houston; two brothers: Bud Nickell and his wife Vera; Bernie Nickell and his wife Diana and one sister: Misty Nickell Clark.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Barbara Nickell Davis and a toddler daughter: Mary Lou DeRyke.
