Brenda Kay Loyd

Brenda Loyd, 67, of Columbia, MO passed away November 3, 2018 in Columbia. Brenda was born in May of 1951 to Charles and Lois Sandker Pugh in Columbia, MO. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School. In November of 1969, she married Bruce Loyd at Dripping Spring Christian Church. They would spend the next 49 years building their life and family together. She was a loving homemaker to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling, and spending time with her dogs. Her extraordinarily friendly personality and uncommon acceptance of everyone insured she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce, children; Monica (Jeff) Poindexter of Columbia, Sarah (Philip) Darnell of Fulton, Rachel (Richard) Polen of North Carolina, and John (Shana) Loyd of Columbia; sisters, Edith Butzin of Centralia, Sue Gish and Glenda Basinger of Columbia; five grandsons, and a large and loving extended family. Her parents and a brother, Larry Pugh, preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Christian Church 2400 Blue Ridge Rd, Columbia, MO 65202.

I’m so very saddened to hear of Brenda’s passing. It’s been many years since I’ve spent time with her or her family but there was a season in life when their support and friendship was very special. Brenda was always an encouragement and very welcoming to this silly/obnoxious middle schooler. :) The family is in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Brenda. She loved to talk about her travels. She was extremely excited to learn that I had visited The Ark museum in Kentucky. She had been to visit grandchildren and she wanted to stop but ran out of time. Will miss seeing her at church. May God be with you during this extremely sad time and may He comfort you during your time of loss.
