He was the son of Bruce K and Mildred Adams Burkhalter of Ottumwa, IA.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny Moffit Burkhalter.
He was the father of three children, Brandy, Misty (Rod) Brewer and Trevor Burkhalter.
Bruce was the grandfather of five, Brooks (Courtney), Caleb (Sabrina), Emma, Owen and Liam Brewer and the great grandfather of Michael.
Bruce had three siblings, Jack (Corina) Burkhalter, Nancy (Joe) Boxx, and Jim (Donna) Burkhalter.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He had many family and friends from his church, Mt Olivet UMC in Taylor, MO and throughout the tri-state area as maintenance coordinator for the US Postal Service.
Bruce never missed an opportunity to watch his kids and grandkids play sports. He helped many build homes, repair vehicles, and complete family projects. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and loved NASCAR races, socializing with his friends and his pets.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
