

Carroll L. Schleeter, 88, of Prairie Home, MO passed away June 27, 2026. Friends and family may gather from 1-2pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. An Elks Lodge ritual will begin at 2pm followed immediately by a memorial service. Carroll’s urn will be placed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carroll was born, November 23, 1937, in Kilbourne, IA to John H. and Garnett I. Towne Schleeter. He was a 1954 graduate of Granger High School in Granger, MO. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1960 and served for two years state-side. On September 13, 1959, he married Mary Mueller in Keokuk, IA.
During his long career in telecommunications, he served in a variety of capacities, to include lineman, telephone company manager, telecom engineer, and owner of his own startup company in telephone engineering. During this time, he and his family lived in many locations finally landing in Columbia, MO in1980 where he stayed until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, he and Mary settled in Prairie Home, MO.
Carroll served with the Elks Lodge for over 40 years, holding several local offices and eventually serving as State President. After his time as State President, he continued to serve in the Grand Lodge. He and Mary were well known with the Elks for their dedication and active service over all these years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Mary M. Schleeter; children, Aleatha Anne (Jim) Myers of Prairie Home, MO; John Carl (Kathryn) Schleeter of Lees Summit, MO, and Beth LaVonne (Michael) Ferrier of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren, John Robert Schleeter, Lauren Elizabeth Ferrier, Alexandra Shea Ferrier, April Donna (Christian) Baumberger, Geoffrey Allen Myers, Matthew (Laura) Henry, and Tiffany (Kelli Burns) Parrett; great-grandson, Ryker Myers; great-granddaughter, Brooke (Jurney) Wallace; sister, Brenda Rae (Wayne) Winn of Memphis, MO; several nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family; and his beloved pug, Shadow. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Wayne Schleeter.
