Catherine Lynn Murphy

Cathy Murphy, 53, of Columbia, one of the most loving, caring, selfless, independent, strong, and fun going individuals passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 after a battle with Covid which lead to Pneumonia which of course lead to other complications just 3 weeks ago. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Our mother, not to mention our mentor and best friend, spent her whole life with one mission in mind and that was to show/ provide her kids, family, anyone and any and every animal love, compassion and a home. She tried to help everyone at every chance she had. She always provided the love and the foundation of love to help every single person and animal she could with no regards or regrets for herself. She had a rough and hard journey as so many of us have had throughout life. She was able to overcome and survive so many adversities, trials, and tribulations that tried to stop our mom from being what she wanted to be the most and what she was!

She was an amazingly loving, caring mother who wanted nothing more in life than to have a family, provide, nurture, and love that family along with anyone that crossed her ever expanding heart. Her legacy lives and continues through every one of her children and everyone whose heart she touched. She is in a better place and released of all of her physical pain. She was loved and will be missed dearly. May she find peace and joy and embrace the next leg of her journey.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Terry Murphy; children, Scott Gestring of Encinitas, CA, Chris Gestring of Edgewood, WA, Brandon Gestring of Tacoma, WA, and Jessica (Billy) McKie of Columbia; their father, Don Gestring; grandchildren, Willow and Rae McKie and James Gestring; her mother, Theresa Sullivan of Sullivan, MO; aunt and uncle, Bill (Wilma) Hahn, and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by infant son, Nicholas Gestring.
