Dale Lee Alspaw, 94, of Columbia, passed away, Monday, August 17th at the Stuart House in Centralia. Friends and family may gather at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO on Wednesday, August 26 from 1-3pm. A graveside service with military honors will begin at 3pm in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dale was born in Kansas City, KS, but claimed Harrisburg, MO as the place where he grew up. In 1950, he graduated high school in Harrisburg and soon after, he joined the US Army where he served state-side during the Korean War. He worked for the City of Columbia as a lineman for 40 years before he retired. He loved to tinker with projects in his workshop. He frequently collected items people were throwing out, repairing or repurposing them to sell at his annual garage sale. He enjoyed camping and traveling to new destinations, and meeting new people. He never met a stranger, and had friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by his daughters, Anita (Mark Lanham) Alspaw of Centralia and Carmen (Bo) Tiffany of Fulton; their mother, Corinne, preceded him in death. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Judy Alspaw; nephews, Mark & Mike Alspaw; many step-grandchildren and, a loving extended family, including his Stuart House family. He is also survived by stepdaughters Kathy & Lisa, their mother, Joy; stepdaughters Michelle & Paula; their mother, Mary, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were parents, Robert and Helen, and brother, Philip.
