Daniel “David” Melloway, beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend, departed this world too soon on May 27, 2024, at the age of 62, after a courageous fight with liver disease. Born on October 23, 1961, in Columbia, Missouri, David's life was an intricate tapestry woven with his love and unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community.
A native Columbian, David graduated from Hickman High School in 1979. After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a finance degree, David earned his Juris Doctorate from Boston College. Shortly after, David embarked on a distinguished 20-year career as a real estate attorney in Saint Louis, MO. Throughout his career, he navigated complex legal landscapes with grace, integrity, and expertise.
In 2005, David moved back home to Columbia to be closer to and care for his parents, Danny and Delores Melloway.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and dedication to his family, David's true passion lay in the art of living. The Melloway home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where he delighted in entertaining friends and family with his excellent taste in food, music, and infectious laughter. A lover of the arts, he found joy and inspiration in the theater and ballet, reveling in the magic of live performances that stirred the soul.
David's life was a testament to the power of love and friendship. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. His infectious smile, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made him a beacon of joy in the lives of all who knew him.
David is survived by his aunts Elaine Wehmeyer and Brenda Mansfield, uncles Oliver Melloway and Danny Lock, several cousins, and a village of friends who he cherished like family.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his grandparents, uncles Tommy Logwood, Frank Mansfield, and Rick Wehmeyer, and aunt Betty Logwood.
