

Darleen L. Hansen, 89 of Rocheport, Missouri passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO, surrounded by all her family and minister. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, MO. Darleen was born on October 15, 1926 in Omaha, NE the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Hoback) Swan who preceded her in death. She was married on June 22, 1946 in Omaha, NE to Oliver J. Hansen who preceded her in death on January 21, 1986. She was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. Her life was based around being a farm wife and mother helping to raise her two children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren as they were the joy of her existence. After moving here from Iowa in 1958, she worked at JC Penney (the second of 3 generations to do so) downtown on Broadway, Exchange National Bank and then The American Cancer Society. She raised hundreds of chickens and sold their eggs to some local restaurants – Pete’s Café, International Pancake House, Guys Diner, Glenn’s Café as well as the Sheriff Department and the jail plus many neighbors. Her church family was also a very important part of her life. She loved to cook. She was known for her desserts at their many dinners, especially her pies. Her homemade cheesecake was always requested by her grandchildren for their birthdays. Survivors include: one son, David Hansen (Glynda) of Rocheport, MO; one daughter, Cheryle Nolke (David) of Rocheport, MO; four grandchildren, Misty Nolke, Andy Nolke, Pam Potter and Brandon Hansen and four great grandchildren, Kendra Potter, Russell Potter, Ben Nolke and Lucy Nolke.
