Dean Christy, 64, of Columbia, MO passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at his home.
A visitation will be from 10-11am, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia with Masonic service at 11am. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dean was born September 25, 1953 in Salem, MO and was an only child of Charles M. and Bernice Wood Christy. He served in the US Navy for four years on the USS Halsey before he made his home in Columbia. Dean was self-employed and worked several different jobs throughout his life. His interest in social organizations began as a young man when he joined the Boy Scouts Troop 5 with MUMC, as a scout he earned several awards and was the youngest Eagle Scout from his troop. He served as a Mason for many years, holding offices in many lodges, Acacia Lodge #602, Twilight Lodge #114, Vienna Lodge #150 being the sitting Worshipful Master there. As well as several others. He was also Grand Tyler for the Grand Lodge of Missouri. He was very active in each of the Lodges. He was 32-degree KCCH Scottish Rite mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbia. Aleppo Grotto , Shriners and Tall Cedars of Lebannon, MO. He was also a member of IOOF Independent Order of Odd Fellows Past Chief Patriarch, Past Noble Grand of Lodge #207. He met many people as he traveled and worked and gained many friends.
He is survived by cousins, many friends and acquaintances, and he was preceded in death by his parents.
