OBITUARY
Deborah Ann Barnard
January 8, 1950 – May 10, 2022

Deborah Ann Barnard, 72, of Columbia passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Boone Hospital. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Monday May 16, 2022 at First Assembly of God Church with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tracy Cook, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Deborah was born on January 8, 1950, in Waynesburg, PA the daughter of Drexler Oldaker and Emma Isabelle (Henderson) Oldaker. She graduated from Hazelwood High School and attended University of Missouri. On August 8, 1970, she was united in marriage at Arlington United Methodist church, Bridgeton, MO to James Barnard, who survives in their home. After the birth of three of their children, Debbie felt a call to return to school and obtain a nursing degree. She attended what was then Southwest Missouri State and St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. Upon graduation, she worked in hospitals and home health care where she was Director of Nursing. She then became a legal nurse consultant for about ten years. Then, she retired from nursing and followed her dreams including quilting, embroidery, growing flowers, and organic farming. She was involved with the Gideon’s International Auxiliary. While she found joy and accomplishment in her employment and businesses, her true joy and passion was in her family.
Debbie is survived by her husband: James; her children: Dawn (Shawn) Lee; Mary Barnard (Andy Gillespie); Daniel (Ozlem) Barnard; her twin brother: Drexler Oldaker.; two sisters: Lyn Chapman; Sharon McCarthy; and five grandchildren.
