Delta Mae Murphy, 85, of Columbia passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Parkside Manor. Services will be conducted on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home with Visitation 10-11 AM and a Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Delta was born on October 28, 1938 at home in Sedalia, Missouri. They had to send someone to go get the local doctor to come to the home. She was educated in the Sedalia Schools. She was united in marriage to Charles R. Murphy on September 26, 1981 who preceded her in death.
Delta was a career women in her day. She was a bookkeeper for Bothswell Hospital and Bill Greer Ford, both in Sedalia. She was the rental department manager for Joe Machen’s Ford for many years. In later years she worked alongside her husband in accounting and tax preparation. Delta enjoyed collecting Christmas Tree Ornaments and Hummell Figurines. She was a long-time active member of Broadway Christian Church.
Delta is survived by her sons: Stephen Emery of St. Peter’s; Mitchell Emery of Sedalia; David Emery of Columbia; and Charles’ children: Rick Murphy of Millersburg, Ron Murphy of Columbia, and Renee Velderman of Hopkins, MI. Delta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Charles.
