He was born on September 5, 1938, in Boone County, Missouri to R.L. Rice and Betty Lou Rice.
On September 25, 1966, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kelliena Rice, for over 58 years. She preceded him in death in 2025.
In his younger years, Donald proudly served his country in the Army. Following his military service, he worked in construction at Emery Sapp until his retirement.
Donald had a deep love for the outdoors and, above all, a genuine love for animals of all kinds. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the beauty of wildlife, his appreciation for animals was a special part of who he was. He enjoyed taking car rides with his daughter to watch and admire the wildlife around them.
Anyone who knew Donald will fondly remember how he always seemed to have a butterscotch or Werther’s candy to offer whenever he saw you. It was a simple but thoughtful gesture that brought a little sweetness to those around him and will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Tammy Nowlin; brother, Ray Rice; grandchildren, Amanda Harper (JW), Joyce Enyart (Jeffrey), and Donald Nowlin (Courtney); eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, Maelyn Rice.
In addition to his wife, Kelliena, he was preceded in death by 9 siblings.
