Donna Sue (Stidham) Gettman of Columbia passed away November 29, 2025. She was 85 years old. She was born September 21,1940 to Ovie Lee and Letha Dell Stidham, the oldest of 4 children. She was raised on the family farm, where she would later build a home and live the rest of her life.
Donna was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 22,1953. Her faith and dedication to Jehovah God was the most important thing in her life. She loved studying the Bible and she spent countless hours teaching others what she had learned. She looked forward with confidence to living forever in Paradise right here on earth. She knew that death will be undone through a resurrection.
On July 6,1957 she married Art Gettman, and they spent the next 68 years together. They raised 5 children, welcomed their children's spouses into the family, and enjoyed 5 grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and was so happy to cook a big meal and have them all at her table.
Donna felt very privileged to travel all over the United States, to Canada, the Caribbean and even to Europe. But she was always ready to come back home. She loved raising vegetables and planting flowers. She also loved her job of selling Avon, which she did for over 25 years and won numerous awards.
Donna is survived by her husband Art, her children: Nita and Bill Ewens, Kenneth and Josanne Gettman, Scott and Cindi Gettman, Dawn and Jodi Wilson, and Tammy and Daniel Willix; her grandchildren: Emily and Zachary Miller, Zachery and Sydney Gettman, Benjamin Willix, Tyler Willix and Ryan Willix; 2 great-grandchildren; her brother Allen and Becky Stidham, her sister-in-law Gail Stidham; along with several nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her brothers, Don Stidham and Lee Stidham.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses at www.donate.jw.org.
Friends and family may gather Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10-11am at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. The funeral service will follow at 11am.
