Dorislene Wilcox, 92, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2026. Born on July 4, 1934, Dorislene was a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew and loved her, and she will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude. Dorislene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Wilcox, on December 19, 1953. During their marriage, Dorislene and Charles were blessed with two beautiful daughters who they loved dearly; Lisa and Janice. Charles preceded Dorislene in death on October 13th, 1971.
Dorislene graduated from Boonville High School in 1952. After high school, with a kind heart and a steady, selfless spirit, Dorislene devoted herself to both family and work, meeting life with resilience and strength. When her children were young, she worked in the school system so that they could spend their summer days together—an early reflection of the thoughtful care that shaped so much of her life. Later, she continued her hard-working dedication through 20 years of service at the local VA Hospital, where her reliability and commitment were evident day after day.
In the quieter moments that make a life feel like home, Dorislene found joy in coloring, knitting, crocheting, cooking, bowling, and making her family’s favorite Christmas candy when the time was right —simple pleasures that reflected her devotion to creating warmth for others and making so many cherished memories. Her divinity candy was some of the best in the area.
Dorislene is survived by her children: Janice Shackelford (Dan) and Lisa Wilcox (Ronald Tussey), and her grandchildren: Jon (Kristina) Shackelford, and her great-grandchildren: Bradley Shackelford, and Bryan Shackelford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Leona Borchers, and her loving husband and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
