Dorothy Pauline Garrison

Visitation will be on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Entombment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on August 31, 1926 in Viola, Missouri the daughter of Amos and Rebecca (Standlee) Allen who preceded her in death. She was married on August 25, 1945 to John Garrison who preceded her in death on February 24, 2017. Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and educator. She received a BS in education from the University of Missouri and was inducted into Pi Lamba Theta for her superior Scholastic Achievement. Having completed her degree, Dorothy eagerly began her career as an educator of third grade students. She retired from Russell Boulevard Elementary after 28 years of service, having touched hundreds of children’s hearts and lives with her devotion to teaching.

Survivors include: three daughters, Doris Bender (Ralph) of Eureka, MO, Elizabeth Brungs of Paradise Valley, AZ and Carolyn Reich of Kirkwood, MO; six grandchildren, Julie Moriarity (Mike), Jennifer Christofferson (Phil), Scott Arnold, Kate Center (David), Kay Brungs Laud (Kevin) and Molly Reich-Chester (Aaron); eight great-grandchildren, Mary Claire, Ellie, and Brady Moriarity, Matthew and Bennett Christofferson and Austin, Gabi and Taylor Center; four brothers, Bud Allen (Eloyce), Jim Allen, Don Allen (Ella Jean) and Lee Allen (Laura) and one sister, Barbara Swafford. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Heinz Brungs; two brothers, Arlis Allen and Ken Allen and one sister, Virginia Allen.
