Dorothy Ellen Schroer

Dorothy Schroer, 91, of Holts Summit passed away, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at home with her family at her side. Visitation will be 1-2pm, Thursday, August 6th at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy was born January 24, 1935, in St. Louis, MO to Allan and Dorothy Hackmann Hood. In 1952, she graduated from Beaumont High School in St. Louis then moved to Columbia. She graduated from Christian College, now Columbia College with an associate’s degree in arts where she was member of their Equestrian Team. She married Roy Schroer at the Christian College Chapel on November 19, 1954. They spent 60 years married until his death in April 2014. She helped Roy on their farm and worked as a domestic engineer, raising two daughters. She was a talented painter and gifted photographer and had several of her pieces in local fairs. She was also gifted in needle crafts and made many pieces of unique clothing and quilts. She enjoyed trips to Branson to see the shows, spending time with her grandkids, and bird watching. She also loved to read.

She is survived by her daughters, Ellen (James) Blair of Columbia and Rebecca (Carl) Voss of Henley; grandchildren, Anna (Raymond) Blair Winn of Columbia, Carla (Joseph) Blair-Gamblian of Ashland, Jennifer (Orion) Wills Ferreria of California, and Nicholas Wills of Henley; great-grandchildren, Sara Gamblian, Hudson Coffelt, Donavan Gamblian, Weston Gamblian and Lyanna Ferreria, a loving extended family and her beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy and by her parents.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank the people at Navigate Wellness and St. Croix Hospice for their support during her final days.
