Henry Lee Blue, born in Gary, Indiana, on January 20, 1955, to James Sr. and Ruthie Blue, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of sixty-nine. The youngest of five children, Henry grew up in a close-knit family with his siblings: Rev. Joseph W. Blue, Gloria J. Moore (née Blue), James W. Blue Jr., and Clara Johnson (née Blue). He now reunites with them in eternal peace, alongside his beloved parents, James and Ruthie.
Henry attended Roosevelt High School in Gary, where he first met Linda Brumfield, the woman who would later become the love of his life. Together, they shared over forty beautiful years of marriage, creating a family full of love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Henry is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Blue; his loving children: son Damien Blue and daughters Tangela Blue; Natalie Hicks (née Blue); Tavonna Robinson; Krishonda McCoy; Danielle Blue; and Janine Blue. His many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren also brought him immense joy.
Henry's unwavering dedication and strong work ethic were evident throughout his life. He often worked two jobs to support his family, a testament to his commitment. His coworkers and friends admired him for his sharp humor, genuine kindness, and quiet strength. Even those who only met him briefly left his side with a smile, a reflection of his positive impact on others.
Henry will be remembered as a man of loud love and unwavering patience whose humor and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A lifelong card-playing enthusiast, he loved playing “1500” with Linda—a game he often lost with a grin—and “Mow-Mow” with family, where his cards mysteriously found their way to the floor when the stakes got high.
In addition to playing cards, Henry enjoyed fishing, stargazing, and cooking his famously delicious French fries. He also loved talking about old cars and all things related to Toy Story. Listening to Earth, Wind & Fire and The Temptations was his soundtrack to life, and his greatest joy came from time spent with loved ones. His love for his family was the heart of his every moment, and his legacy of love, laughter, and perfectly timed humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private ceremony will be held in accordance with the family’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Henry’s honor.
