Skip was born on July 30, 1946 in Unionville, Missouri the son of Howard Elston Hines and Eleanor (Tate) Hines. He was a 1964 graduate of the University of Missouri Lab School and four years later he graduated from the University of Missouri. During his senior year he married Carol Babcock who survives. Skip joined the United States Air Force and was a member of the 89th Air Lift Wing of Joint Base Andrew’s where he was a flight steward on Air Force Two. In this capacity he met and cared for US and world dignitaries who traveled on Air Force Two. He retired after over twenty years of service, moved to Columbia and was employed by the University of Missouri in their Food Service, retiring again, after ten years of service. In 1996 he met and married Maria Reed who survives. He was a proud Mizzou fan and enjoyed the games and the tailgating. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.
Skip is survived by his first wife: Carol and their daughter: Ellen Kathleen Plummer; his current wife: Maria and their two sons: Aaron (Kelli) Reed; Andrew (Merrit) Reed; one brother: Robert Hines; six grandchildren; one brother –in-law: Jerry Rhodes and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Mary “Kitty” Rhodes.
Skip was also proud to be able to say that he was a descendant of George Boone the brother of Daniel Boone.
