Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 606 Ridgeway Ave, Columbia, MO.
Jim was born on June 24, 1933 in Mountain Grove, MO the son of Leroy and Kathleen (Davis) Brown who preceded him in death. He was married to Verle Marie Tapp on December 20, 1952 in Hardy, AR. Jim retired in 1995 from the Columbia Missourian as a type setter. After retirement, he worked for Sams part-time as a greeter.
Jim loved all of his children and his family was very important to him. All who knew Jim loved his sense of humor. If Jim gave you a hard time you knew you were special to him.
Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Verle Brown of the home; four children, James Brown Jr (Helen) , Charles Brown (Sheila); Beverly Siercks (Steve) and Tim Brown (Lisa); one brother, Jerry Brown (Joy) ; two sisters, Mary Lovelady and Carol Ackerman; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
