Jim Kay, 85, passed away on September 11, 2024 at his home in Gravois Mills, Missouri. Born to Anne Patha and James Kozoyed, Jr. in Berwyn, Illinois on November 3, 1938, he spent his younger years in the Chicago area. To this union were born five children.
Jim was a hydraulics engineer by trade and his work eventually brought the family to Missouri. After retirement, Jim and Barbara enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid gardener and a talented cook. Most of all, he lived his life by The Golden Rule and would go out of his way for anyone.
Survivors include his children: Jim (Jayse) Kay, Karen Cochran, Kathy (Rodney) Roberts, David Kay and Karalyn Lowen; siblings: Joe (Fran) Schulenberg, Carol Howard, John (Laura) Wierema; grandchildren: Michael, Brandin, Andrew, Barbara, Jessica, James, David and Jack; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, brother Larry Kozoyed and companion Alice.
A one-hour visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri at 2:00 PM, followed immediately by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
