Jim began his working years as a 562-union pipefitter. He later worked at Stephens College before joining the City of Columbia as an inspector, and then returned to the Union, where he spent the remainder of his career as a proud 562 Union Pipefitter at the nuclear plant until his retirement.
On March 3, 1990, Jim married Linda (Atkinson) in Billingsville, Missouri. She survives of the home. Also surviving are his three sisters-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Cordy.
Jim found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, spending time at the family farm and cutting firewood. He was a devoted husband, a steady presence, and a man whose kindness touched all who knew him. His absence leaves a tremendous void, and he will be dearly missed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Services honoring and celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Committal prayers and burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
