Our loving Joseph Jude Treacy passed away Dec 13, 2018 at his home in Columbia Missouri with family by his side. Joe was born March 7, 1931 in St Louis Missouri to Arthur Joseph & Elizabeth Marie (Fitzpatrick) Treacy.
He graduated from St Edwards, McBride High & Hadley Tech in St Louis. At age sixteen he joined the Local Union number 1 Pipefitters as a young man. He was drafted into the United States Army serving under the 511th Engineer Aviation Division (SACRWAF). He served his country as a Mess Sergeant setting up MASH units in Korea 1950 to 1953. He returned to the states & resumed working with the Union, which later was named Insulators & Allied Workers Local # 1.
After retiring from the Union in 1987 he enjoyed spending time at his lake house in Morgan County. His hobbies included entertaining, gardening, cooking, fishing & puttering around. Everyone was very welcome to visit Joe’s place and relax.
The Elks Lodge 594 was a passion of Joe’s. He served as a sixty three year member of the local lodge & became a historian for the Missouri State Elk Association. This service to the Elks included heading up being the State Historian & heading up the Archive Committee. He was a lifetime member of the VFW American Legion, Boone County Historical Society and Pipe Fitters retiree club.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his Life Companion of twenty seven years Dianne Miller, his children, Dr. Brian Treacy, Elizabeth Kilfoil, & Colleen Thomas (Kevin), his Grandchildren Zachary Treacy, Nathan Kilfoil (Mily), Rhianna Kilfoil (Eric), Bethany Treacy, Kaleb Treacy, Darian Spindler (Jake) & Nicole Nichols, his Great Grandchildren Jaden, Gatlin, Addie, Natalie & Gracelynn. Extended daughters, include Maggie Nichols and Angie Gray.
Other extended family includes tons of wonderful loving nieces and nephews, Union brothers & friends that he dearly cherished.
Joe was proceeded in death by his parents & four sisters; Catherine (Longo), Marie (Giordano), Elizabeth (Chrismer), Dorothy (Dunsworth) , four brothers; Arthur Junior, Michael, William (Jean), Thomas (Verble), former spouse Norma Snell Robb, nieces and nephews.
Everyone that had an opportunity to know Joe was fortunate. He was truly a great man that blessed us with much love, laughter & compassion.
