

Karla Richardson, 58, of Columbia, MO passed away Sunday, August 3rd. Friends and family may gather from 4-6pm, Friday, August 15th at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Private urn burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Karla was born on November 29, 1966, in Macon, MO to Clare and Sophie Prien Jensen. The family moved to Columbia when she was young. She graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1985 and went on to attend college at the University of Missouri. Early in adulthood, she enjoyed traveling to beaches and snorkeling. Karla was excellent in the kitchen. She would fix great comfort food feasts, and for her daughters’ birthday parties she would even go through the lengths to prepare personal-sized cakes for each guest to decorate. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, sharing recipes, and had a collection of cherished cookbooks. Karla also enjoyed art. She was talented at cross-stitch and curated many oil paintings depicting her favorite marsh landscapes. Karla was also an avid football fan, and would cheer for the Missouri Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs every weekend.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelby (Kirt) Daniels of St. Louis and Emma Richardson and her fiancé Nate Scott of Columbia, and their father Steve Richardson of Columbia; a granddaughter, Heather Daniels; nephew, Todd Wells; niece, Angela Elias; brothers-in-law, Gene Kempf and Kenny Elias. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Susan Kempf and Pamela Elias, and her parents.
